The NBA Panel covered the 2018 BIG3 championship on Friday August 24th at Barclays in Bronx NY. With the success of the 1st season already noted the league did not disappoint the 2nd time around.
The evening got underway with the third place game featuring the 3 Headed Monsters vs Tri-State. This matchup was close and thrilling from beginning to end, keeping the crowd engaged through out. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf came out on fire carrying the team, and drained a 3ptr with the game tied at 49 all to win it for the 3 Headed Monsters. He finished with a team high 28 PTS. Amar’e Stoudemire went to work for Tri-State putting up 22 PTS, but it was ultimately wasn’t enough.
The main event featured Power vs 3’s Company, and this wasn’t much of a contest. Power won the Championship fairly easily behind league MVP Corey Maggette’s 27 PTS, completing a strong run for the team. Coach of the year Nancy Lieberman pulled her team together, putting everyone on notice about her talent as a head coach. Andre Emmet had 24 PTS, and 10 REB for 3’s Company in an losing effort.
The second season of the BIG3 was nothing short of exciting, and the league is only growing. There’s already talk of which former players will join the league next season, which will only make it even more competitive. Ice Cube, Jeff Kwatinetz, and Amy Trask are doing a phenomenal job with your league.
