The NBA Panel covered the Delaware 87ers as they took on the Orlando Magic NBA G League affiliate Lakeland Magic at the Bob Carpenter Center on January 30th. The Sevens lost a wire to wire contest against the Magic 118-93. The Lakeland Magic took control early displaying their perimeter shooting that the 87ers didn’t have an answer for.
Lakeland came out strong and set the tone . Going into the half the Magic held a 60 to 40 lead which they wouldn’t relinquish. The Magic were led by Rodney Purvis who had 37 points, and constantly attacked the Sevens from inside the paint and from the 3pt line. Scoring for the 87ers was led by Askia Booker who put up 21 points but it wasn’t enough to keep the Sevens within striking distance. The 87ers were able to make a run in the 3rd to cut the lead to 11, but the Magic answered in the fourth with timely shots to pull away down the stretch.
With the loss the 87ers fall to 9-22 on the season.
